How to Achieve a Flawless Skin from Your Kitchen (the spicy way)

Saturday, June 27th, 2020Healthy LivingAdmin

Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. We believe in good quality natural products that work for your skin type, as well as consistency and availability. So, let’s talk spice and skin care. Spices go beyond adding flavour to your food. Some have medicinal properties that naturally heal and rejuvenate the skin.  We all want glowing skin, and a lot of people invest a lot of money in skincare products to get young and vibrant skin. If you also have spent a lot of money on beauty products but didn’t get the desired result, head to your kitchen right away, the solution to that dull, lacklustre skin lies in your spice rack. You’d be wowed at how these spices can make your skin flawless. So let’s gist….

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is one of the favourite spice sweet lovers; moderate amounts of spice can also be a unique and wonderful means to care for your skin. The antioxidants, phosphorus, magnesium, iron and other micro and macro elements that are present in Cinnamon, have a cleansing and nourishing properties. It also tones up the skin and improves blood circulation, which helps to activate the power of skin cell. The spice is also rich in Vitamins. Vitamin E contained in Cinnamon promotes the renewal of the skin cells, vitamin C can give skin smoothness and elasticity, and vitamin K is responsible for the beautiful colour of the face, as well as improves the performance of the blood vessels, which ultimately affects the overall condition of the skin. To achieve that flawless skin, all you have to do is to mix 1 tablespoon of Cinnamon powder with 2-3 teaspoon of honey to form a paste. Apply this mix on the face covering acne and pimples. Wash it off with lukewarm water after 10 minutes. Also, a face mask made of Cinnamon and banana can nourish the skin adding a glow to it.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg helps reduce inflammation and irritation of the skin, promotes hydration, and gives your skin a smooth appearance. This delicious spice reduces the signs and marks of acne, and can also help with dry skin because it’s extremely moisturizing and assists exfoliation. The same reasons that make nutmeg super healthy for eating make this a key ingredient in skincare. The stimulating properties will certainly wake up dead skin cells and help those not-so-fine lines around your mouth fade. Nutmeg is known to have curative properties that heal scars caused by everything from acne to sunspots. To get a Nutmeg facemask, combine Lemon juice, Yoghurt and Nutmeg, apply a thick layer of this mask onto your face and let it stay for about seven to eight minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the well-researched herbs on the planet. You can consider it the granddaddy of the anti-inflammatory spices. These characteristics provide glow and lustre to the skin. Turmeric revives your skin by bringing out its natural glow. It’s widely used as a skin exfoliant reduces pigmentation, evens out the skin tone and diminishes wrinkles. Also, Turmeric has been shown to significantly decrease the number of bacteria that typically trigger acne. To end the era of dull skin, quickly make a facemask with one teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of milk and 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric. Apply it on your face and leave it on for 25 minutes and then wash off. This skin care routine will restore your natural glow.

Garlic

The moment you hear about stretch marks, all you wish is for them to vanish! Well, they are stubborn, and our skin is elastic. To reduce stretch marks can take a long time if you don’t put in extra effort to get rid of them. Hot oil massage with garlic may help reduce stretch marks, and you must try it with olive oil or mustard oil.

Ginger

Ginger is one of the most popular spices for skincare used today in cosmetology. This spicy root can improve skin tone, fight blemishes, and lighten age spots. It is full of anti-ageing antioxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds, minerals, and skin-brightening nutrients that can be of special benefit to those with rosaceous, acne, eczema, psoriasis, or an uneven complexion. It is not surprising that this spice is suitable for any type of skin. If you have oily skin, a ginger based facemask can help reduce sebum production, which clogs the enlarged pores and promotes the development of problems such as acne and pimples. If your skin is dry and sensitive, Ginger can help protect you from a variety of adverse weather influences.

Incorporating spices and herbs in our skincare regimen is not something many of us do often nonetheless, there is never a perfect time for it. You could start now to use some of these spices to get that radiant and flawless skin we so much love to have. Remember to discuss your regimen with your dermatologist and try it out on a small layer of skin before you commence.

Have you used any of these spices for skincare regimen? Which of them is your favourite spice and why? Please share with us; we would love to know.
