Yamarita Recipe for Winners

Wednesday, April 26th, 2023RecipesAdmin

YAMARITA
Welcome to Tiger Kitchen, cooking time is yummy time. Today, we will be learning how to make a mouth-watering breakfast recipe, Yamarita. Yamarita is a Nigerian dish of battered and fried yam. It is very delicious, easy to make and well-known in the northern part of Nigeria. Yamarita is loved by everyone in Nigeria, except you haven’t yet tried it; It is nearly as popular as Suya. Since yam has a way of getting hard when it’s cold, the idea behind this recipe is to keep the yam from drying out even when it’s no longer hot. Let’s get right into it.

The ingredients:
½ tuber of yam
3 eggs
3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of Tiger Ginger Powder
1 teaspoon of Tiger Garlic Powder
1 Fresh chilli pepper
Salt (to taste)
300ml Vegetable oil

Preparation:
Step 1:
Slice the yam into equal parts. The sliced yam does not need to be too slim or too bold. Peel the sliced yam. Cut the peeled yam into fingers. Transfer into a bowl; fill the bowl with water, wash and boil. Don’t let the yam overcook because it will still be fried.

Step 2:
Mix the all-purpose flour, ginger powder, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt together.

Step 3:
Break in three eggs inside another bowl. Add a pinch of salt and chili pepper, then whisk properly.

Step 4:
When the yam is ready, pick them out of the pot and allow them to cool.

Step 5:
Pick the boiled yam one after another and immerse them into the flour mixture. Make sure to remove the excesses.

Step 6:
Repeat the same process for the whisked egg. Dip the yam into the egg one after another until the last piece.

Step 7:
Add oil to the frying pan. Allow heating for about three minutes. Drop the coated yam into the hot oil and fry. It is ready when it has turned golden brown.

Yamarita can be enjoyed and served with stew, egg sauce, ugba sauce, ketchup etc. You could add in grilled fish or chicken. Now chow!😁😁
Do you enjoy Yamarita? What is your twist to it?
