Friday, February 5th, 2021UncategorizedAdmin

We can't gist about Nigerian foods without mentioning Garri, the food that saves lives😀. Garri is a cassava-based pan-fried coarse white/yellow granules. Addition of palm oil gives the white variant the yellow colour. Garri has its origin in West Africa. Originally, garri was made to be paired with soup as a full meal but it has evolved to serve as both food and snack. We may lack every other food item in an African home but certainly not Garri. We are glad to tell you that curiosity led us to explore different ways to enjoy Garri as a snack, and we can't wait to share them with you. This amazing food is rich in carbohydrates, Vitamin A, Iron, Folate and also starch. Suffice to say, It’s a healthy meal. Without further ado, let's get down to what brought us here; fun ways enjoy garri as snack.

Soaking Garri
This is the most popular way to eat the snack. A yummy combination of cold water, milk, chocolate, sugar and Garri. This combo goes down well with the legendary Okpa (Bambara Nut), Moi Moi (Beans Pudding) and dry fish😀 It's your choice to decide whether to have it as breakfast, lunch, dinner or even dessert. Also, you can add honey or even date syrup to it… extra yum!

The Crunchy Style
Have ever tried eating Garri with chin chin, Kuli Kuli or even biscuit? Guess not. Also, you can tweak it a bit with Kilishi, Suya or any other fried or roasted beef. The real deal here is everything crunchy goes well with it.

Go Nuts with Garri
Everything Nuts goes nut when it sees Garri 😂. Let's start with Tiger nut, Cashew, Coconut and Groundnut. It will blow your mind away after adding these nuts to the cereal. One of the interesting things to know about this snack is that you can enjoy it with all the nuts together in one meal.

Garrinola
To make Garrinola, you need Greek yoghurt, Nuts and fresh fruit. with nuts and added fresh fruits that make it quite healthy. The twist is using less of Ijebu garri and more of fruit and yoghurt or milk. It is very filling with the minimal garri grains and more fruits which is quite good even for kids. Also, you can take Garrinola with warm milk.

Garri Cookies
Yes, you read right! This mouth-watering snack is made from Garri, Flour, Sugar, Milk, Baking soda and if you want, coconut shavings. Use equal ration of garri and flour. You can eat it with tea or milkshake. It’s yummy quick and simple. If you are a garri lover and thinking of a way to incorporate it in your breakfast, this recipe is a great way to do so.

Garri Cake
Did you attend boarding school? No? You missed out on this. If yes, then you are familiar with the famous Garri Cake. We will leave behind the memories we have of it for another day. Back then we use butter, sugar, chocolate and garri to make it. It only takes about 1hr 30 minutes to make this breath-taking yum! Recipe coming soon.
